Talkin Tarn Country Park is centred around a 65 acre lake set amid 120 acres of farmland and woodland. There is a 1.3 mile path round the tarn which makes for a gentle stroll.
This is a 10 000 year old glacial tarn that it is fed by underground streams.
Here you can enjoy water sports such as fishing, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing. The Talkin Tarn Amateur Rowing Club is the oldest rowing club in the North of England. Wooden rowing boats are also available for hire. Closed fishing season runs from 15th March - 15th June.
The Boathouse Tea Room and adjoining gift shop have superb views of the tarn. A variety of events and activities are held here throughout the year.
